Apple Watch Ultra 2 49mm Band, Protection & Accessories

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 49mm uses Apple''s 49mm-specific bands. Trail Loop is a lightweight nylon loop for trail running. Alpine Loop is a two-layer woven band with a titanium G-hook, made for hiking and mountain sport. Ocean Band uses flexible fluoroelastomer with a titanium clasp, designed for diving and water sport. Standard Sport, Solo Loop and leather bands also exist in 49mm or with an Ultra adapter. Pick by activity: outdoor and trail (Alpine), water (Ocean), everyday and sport (Trail or Sport).

Three protection types are common. PET film is the cheapest, decent against everyday scratches but thin. Hydrogel film is flexible and conforms to Apple Watch''s curved glass right to the edges — ideal, since the glass is not flat. Tempered glass offers the strongest scratch and impact protection but can lift at the edges on heavily curved models. Look for full-cover variants that protect the whole front face, or display-only films. For the Apple Watch Ultra 2 49mm we recommend hydrogel or a full-cover bumper with integrated protection.

The titanium case of the Apple Watch Ultra 2 49mm is rugged by nature, so a bumper case is not strictly required — but it is useful for trail, climbing, mountaineering or construction work. A wrap-around case additionally protects the Action button and the Digital Crown from impacts and dirt. Combined with a glass or hydrogel screen protector, you get full coverage without hiding the Ultra''s character.

The Apple Watch charges via a magnetic charger — Apple''s watch-specific “MagSafe for the watch”. Genuine Apple chargers and compatible third-party cables come with USB-C or USB-A on the other end. For travel there are compact power-bank chargers with a built-in watch puck and travel sets with combined iPhone+Watch charging. Fast charging (up to 80 % in about 45 minutes) works from Series 7 onward with the included USB-C fast-charge cable and a USB-C power-delivery adapter of 18 W or more. Older chargers charge more slowly.

49mm bands fit only the Apple Watch Ultra and Ultra 2. With an adapter, some standard Apple Watch bands (44/45/46mm) can be mounted on the Ultra, but they look smaller than the 49mm case. Apple''s Trail, Alpine and Ocean bands are 49mm-only.
