One charging stand for phone, watch and earbuds: worth it?

Three cables live on the nightstand and you hunt for two of them every evening. A charging stand tidies that up: phone at the front, watch on the arm, earbuds in the dip. In practice the design matters less than three technical details that never show up in the product photo.
The power adapter is usually not included
A charging stand is a distributor, not a power source. Three devices at once easily need 30 to 45 watts together. If all you have is an old 20-watt adapter, everything charges, but slowly and at uneven speeds. Check before buying whether an adapter is included and what wattage it is rated at. If not, budget for a charger of at least 35 watts.
The watch is the tricky part
Phones and earbuds charge over Qi, an open standard. Smartwatches do not. The Apple Watch needs a puck licensed by Apple, and only certified modules charge the newer models at all, or at full speed. The same applies to a Galaxy Watch with Samsung's own method: an Apple puck will not charge it.
In practice: buy the stand to match your watch, not your phone. If the description only says smartwatch without naming the brand, be careful.

If you want the phone visible as a clock at night, take the stand. On an iPhone it enables the landscape mode that turns the display into a bedside clock. If you just put the phone down, the flat pad is cheaper and far more forgiving about cases.
What matters day to day
- No bright status light. A blue LED on the nightstand gets old by the second night.
- A non-slip surface for the earbuds, or the cable slowly pushes the case out of its dip.
- Foldable, if the stand travels with you. The folding models fit in a trouser pocket.
- Fixed cable or USB-C socket? The socket is easier to repair.
