Leather cases look elegant and develop patina. Sleeves and carry bags are useful additionally if you carry the Mini without a case. Important: cases for other iPad Mini generations usually do NOT fit — the iPad Mini 7 (2024) has its own dimensions (Pencil Pro magnet on the long side). Three protection types are common. Tempered glass offers the highest protection against impact and scratches — the standard pick if you don't use the Pencil. Anti-glare films reduce reflections — useful at the park, near windows or under office lighting. Paper-feel films have a matt, slightly textured surface that makes writing and drawing with the Apple Pencil Pro noticeably more pleasant — almost like paper — and reduce Pencil slipping. A must for notes, sketchnotes and illustration apps such as Procreate, Notability or GoodNotes. Note: paper-feel films wear down the Pencil tip a bit faster — replacement tips are available individually.

The iPad Mini 7 (2024) is compatible with Apple Pencil Pro (squeeze, barrel-roll, Find My, magnetic pairing and charging on the long side) and Apple Pencil USB-C. Apple Pencil 2 does NOT work on the Mini 7 — Pencil Pro uses a new pairing system. We carry matching Pencil tips (standard, paper-feel tips for matt films, softer tips for quieter writing), Pencil grips in silicone or leather for more ergonomic handling, and Pencil cases with carabiner to clip onto a bag or backpack. The Apple Pencil USB-C is the cheapest Pencil option but does not support pressure.

There is no official Apple Magic Keyboard for the iPad Mini 7 (2024) — those are reserved for iPad Pro and iPad Air. Instead we stock Bluetooth keyboard folio cases from third-party brands that combine protection and keyboard, as well as standalone Bluetooth keyboards such as the Apple Magic Keyboard, Logitech K380 or Keychron, which you can pair flexibly with multiple devices. For longer writing sessions a separate Bluetooth keyboard is often more comfortable than a folio with smaller keys. Tip: the Mini format works well as a second screen next to a main laptop — Stage Manager and Universal Control make it productive.

The iPad Mini 7 (2024) has a USB-C port. You can connect external SSDs, 4K monitors (via HDMI adapter or USB-C hub), USB-C hubs with HDMI/SD card reader/USB-A and power-delivery adapters up to 30 W. We stock USB-C cables in 1 m and 2 m, compact USB-C hubs with HDMI/SD/USB-A — for the Mini format it's important the hub stays small — USB-C power adapters with Power Delivery and USB-C audio adapters (3.5 mm jack).

Thanks to the A17 Pro chip and 8 GB of RAM, writing tools, Image Playground, Genmoji and Siri integrations run on-device. Apple Intelligence is currently available in English in Switzerland — more languages will follow.

If you regularly write or draw with the Apple Pencil Pro, yes. Paper-feel films (matt, textured surface) drastically reduce Pencil slipping and feel like paper — pleasant for sketchnotes, bullet journals and illustration. Downsides: slightly softer display sharpness and faster Pencil tip wear. Pure consumers (streaming, reading) are better off with clear tempered glass.
