The Micro-USB plug has a small angled edge — the narrower side faces up. Never force it. USB-C, in contrast, is reversible.
Only if both sides support QC — smartphone and adapter. With QC 2.0/3.0 the phone charges at up to 18 W.
A charging cable has 2 wires (power), a data cable has 4 wires (power + data). Cheap no-name cables often skip the data lines.
Daily use 1–2 years, with nylon braid 2–3 years. The connector is the most common weak point.
Shipped from our Basel warehouse — A-Post 1–2 working days, express or free in-store pickup. Free above CHF 15.
Micro-USB was the dominant Android standard from about 2010 to 2017 and lives on in Bluetooth headphones, power banks, Bluetooth speakers, old Samsung Galaxy (S3 to S7), Huawei P8/P9, older Xiaomi models, fitness trackers and PS4/Xbox One controllers. Current smartphones use USB-C — see „USB-C to USB-A" or „USB-C to USB-C".
Over USB-A, Micro-USB charges at a maximum of 5 V / 2.4 A = 12 W on normal devices and up to 18 W with Quick Charge 2.0/3.0 (if device and adapter both support QC). Data rate USB 2.0 (480 Mbps) for sync, photo backups and firmware updates. Rule of thumb: „charging cable is not the same as data cable" — some cheap Micro-USB cables only contain 2 wires (power) instead of 4 (power + data). They charge but do not transfer data. Our listings clearly state data capability.
The Micro-USB plug is mechanically weaker than Lightning or USB-C and wears over time — the most common failure is a loose connection. Nylon-braided cables with reinforced strain relief last twice as long as plain PVC. Gold-plated contacts do not oxidise and improve long-term contact. Models with aluminium connector housings are more robust than pure plastic.
0.5 m for power bank in bag and travel gadget, 1 m standard, 2 m for sofa and bed, 3 m for car cradles and longer distances. At fast charge above 1.5 m voltage drop can slightly reduce effective charging power — but at the smartphone's 12–18 W it is practically negligible.
The Micro-USB plug has a small angled edge on one side — the narrower/slightly chamfered side faces up. The wrong orientation simply will not slide in — never force it. USB-C, in contrast, is reversible.
Only if both sides support QC — smartphone and adapter. With QC 2.0/3.0 the phone charges at up to 18 W. Without QC support it stays at 10–12 W. Apple iPhones do not use QC, they use USB-PD.
A charging cable has 2 wires (power), a data cable has 4 wires (power + data). Cheap no-name cables often skip the data lines — they charge but do not transfer data. Look for „with data transfer" or „sync & charge".
Daily use 1–2 years, with nylon braid and careful plug/unplug 2–3 years. The connector is the most common weak point — a loose fit usually marks the end.
